For years the BSoA Galleries have been the perfect venue for special events or business functions. Events hosted in this incredible space have included cocktail parties, live music events, business presentations and even wedding receptions.
BSoA has even been the venue for the exchange of marriage vows. And why not?
The multi-faceted space is conveniently located inside the City Hall & Arts Centre on Church Street in the City centre. Parking is never an issue and with around-the-clock security, you and your guests can rest assured.
The gallery’s high western facing windows help create a light and airy atmosphere, enhanced by the beautiful artwork that is on display 365 days a year.
The galleries are perfect for private parties – able to cater up to 120 guests for a private dinner (tables and chairs), 200 seated theatre style or 300 guests for a cocktail party for dinner. Why not rent the galleries for a meeting, workshop, presentations, birthday party (adults only), anniversary or even a wedding. With its long winding staircase, City Hall is the perfect backdrop for those unforgettable wedding photographs.
The staff and volunteers of BSoA will help make your event, no matter how small or large, unforgettable.
RENTAL CHARGES
- 1–3 Hour Rental: $250/hr + Security: $50/hr
- 4–5 Hour Rental: $225/hr + Security: $50/hr
- Setup/Breakdown Outside Regular Hours: $50/hr
- Unscheduled Overtime: $75/hr
- Use of BsoA’s credit card facilities: a fee of $50 plus 3.75% of sales

- Restoration Fee: An additional $200 will be charged if the gallery is not returned to its original state after the event
Registered charities receive a 15% discount with a valid charity number.
Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will incur a 50% cancellation fee.

FAQ’s
1. How far in advance do I have to book?
Typically, we find that the prime months of summer July through September and the Christmas holidays are the first dates to be reserved. The gallery will do everything it can to accommodate your function/show.
2. Am I allowed to reserve the gallery and what does that entail?
We are happy to reserve the gallery for you at no charge while you tie up loose ends but a 50% deposit should be paid at least 90 days in advance. If someone else expresses interest, we give you the first right of refusal and will ask you to make an immediate decision with 50% security deposit. The remaining rental fee is due at least 30 days before your event or show
Function Rental Rates start at $675 for a 2-3 hour reception.
Exhibition Rates for a three week period are as follows: Onions Gallery: $1,750 Edinburgh Gallery: $750 Studio Galleries: $375
3. Is a security deposit required?
Yes, a 50% security deposit is required at time of booking.

Credit/debit card information is retained in case of excessive cleaning/repairs following a rental
5. What if I cancel the date after I have signed a contract and paid?
A full refund wil be made if you cancel more than 90 days before your event/show. If you cancel less than 90 days in advance your 50% deposit will be forfeit unless the gallery space can be relet. If you cancel less than 30 days before the event, your entire fee will be forfeited.
6. What if BSoA cancels my reservation?
If circumstances beyond the control of BSoA force it to cancel your reservation, we will refund all sums paid. This refund is in lieu of all other damages.
Gallery Descriptions
Onions Gallery
The Onions Gallery is the largest of our four galleries. The overall size is approximately 60 feet by 30 feet (1,800 square feet) and is extensively lit by high windows on the western side. The walls provide for approximately 100 running feet for displaying artwork which can be expanded by an additional 310 running feet with the various moving panels which are available. This Gallery is a versatile space which lends itself to multi talented shows of all mediums and is also ideal for business or social events such as presentations, cocktail receptions and dinner parties.
This space can be further enhanced by encompassing the “Studio Galleries” which extends the overall size to 76 feet x 30 feet (2,280 square feet).
Edinburgh Gallery
The Edinburgh Gallery provides a more private environment for the single artist or small group shows. At approximately 33 feet by 14 feet (462 square feet / 566 running feet), this intimate gallery can house additional moveable panels and plinths to enlarge and enhance the hanging space.
Studio A & B
Two boutique galleries, Studio A and B are a recent addition to our space and each gallery is approximately 14 feet by 15 feet (210 square feet / 51 running feet). These studios could be rented together which, with the centre panel removed would provide 420 square feet and 36 running feet. This space can also be incorporated into the Onions Gallery providing an overall space of 76 feet x 30 feet (2,280 square feet).
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
Artwork
• Do not move or touch any artwork. Please contact the Gallery Director for assistance.
Entertainment
• All entertainment must be approved by the BSoA prior to the event.
Bar & Catering
• Bars must be set up away from the carpeted entrance area.
• Bar and catering facilities are not permitted outside the gallery doors at any time.
Deliveries / Setup & Breakdown
• All furniture, food, beverages, and decorations must be delivered and set up during the designated rental time.
• Decorating should be completed before the start of the event.
Smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises.
Parking
• Parking is available in the City Hall Parking Lot or other designated public areas.
• The BSoA is not responsible for any parking violations.
Capacity (Estimated)
• Sit-Down Dinner: 100–120 guests
• Cocktail Reception: 150–200 guests
• Actual capacity depends on event layout and requirements.
Cleanup & Damages
• Events must end at the time stated in the contract.
• Cleanup & breakdown must occur immediately after the event, unless otherwise agreed.
• The renter is responsible for leaving the gallery in a clean condition.
• All trash must be removed and placed in the City Hall dumpster.
• The BSoA will vacuum and sweep the gallery.
• Excessive cleaning (e.g., carpet stains) may incur additional charges at BSoA’s discretion.
• Damage to the facility during the rental period

Liability & Access
• BSoA is not liable for personal injuries or loss/damage to belongings during the event.
• Access is restricted to the public gallery areas; guests are not permitted in offices or storage rooms.
